CDET works with its validated members offering grades in dance and musical theatre, and collaborative bodies offering grades in music and drama to:
- provide an authoritative source of information for government agencies when dealing with issues of recognition, regulation and accreditation across the performing arts
- promote the benefits of graded examinations to the public and raise their status within the UK and internationally
- ensure the continued integrity of assessment methods and the reliability of standards across all disciplines.
To progress joint initiatives, our members collaborate with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), the London College of Music (whose qualifications are validated by the University of West London) and the New Era Academy. Projects include the production of a booklet to promote Graded Examinations as a distinct qualification type and a supporting website to promote participants’ qualifications.
This work is typically pursued through the Graded Examinations Forum which comprises Ofqual-recognised Awarding Organisations offering Grades in Music, Dance and Drama.
